Peptides and Sam's Warning

By Lukas Jääger - 10.03.2026

A while back I watched ThePrimeagen's video titled "Sam Altman said what?". The key takeaway was that Sam Altman warned us about some possible dangers of AI in 2026, and one of them was a new bioweapon. That kind of straightforwardness left me basically speechless, and ThePrimeagen's "What?!" summed it up pretty well. However, I just kind of forgot about it, until now.

I stumbled upon Good Work's video "Silicon Valley's new miracle drug" and the words "consumer biotech" reminded me of the former video. Good Work highlights a new trend in Silicon Valley with different peptides, more specifically, unregulated and even illegal ones. He highlights the growing market for them and interviews people actively taking these peptides.

Now, I'm not saying there's some definite connection between the two, but it got me thinking. If, as Sam says, bioweapons are a growing danger, then these people taking x amounts of untested peptides seem an awful lot like a possible future target group. Especially since one of the main ways of getting these drugs is through sketchy 3rd party dealers, spreading a possible virus or poison wouldn't be too hard.

Of course, people know that these kinds of peptides can have side effects, but taking into account the rapid growth of AI and Sam's warning, I think people should be even more careful. And this scenario is quite unlikely, but - just a thought.
